Oh hi, I’m Alex.
I’m a web developer in sunny Portland, OR, and this is where I keep my musings on everything from design and development to dinosaurs and drug wars.
I fancy myself something of a Renaissance man—writing code, studying design, climbing rocks, drumming drums, and whatever else catches my interest. I design web interfaces for solar electronics and am more or less trying to leave the world in better shape than I found it.
I’ve built this site to act as a sort of living laboratory for design and development experimentation and as a dumping ground for my thoughts and ideas. The general format will be that of a “blogazine”, though that’s the last time you’ll ever hear me use that word. I’d be delighted if somebody else reads and enjoys it, but it’s not really about that.
I’m building the site from the ground up, both as a way to hone my skillz and because the communazi in me (it’s a thing—look it up) demands complete control over my code. Look for gradual enhancements over the coming months, as well as an article detailing the technologies that make the magic happen.
You’ll also be seeing me play around with lots of different design ideas. I love experimenting with and expanding upon design styles of the past and have been in dire need of a place to host these ideas. I’m an engineer by training, so please don’t ever hesitate to offer constructive criticism and helpful hints.
Okay so that’s me in a nut’s hell. Let’s get this party started and introduce yourself in the comments. What inspires you?
